Amy Gledhill lands her own BBC One Sitcom

Amy Gledhill, Edinburgh Comedy Awards Winner 2023, is to write and star in a new six-part comedy series for the BBC.

Opening Up, which she has co-written with Nic Sampson is a romcom about a couple who decide to try an open relationship in an attempt to revive their sex life.

Gledhill plays Penny, one half of the long-term couple at the centre of the show, which will be set and filmed in Manchester.

The comic and her co-writer said in a joint statement: ’It’s an actual dream come true to get to make a comedy with the BBC, and their support and passion for this project has been incredible from the very start. We can’t wait to show you what we’ve been working on.”
